white fillings

white fillings are designed to match the natural colour of your teeth and provide a healthier, more natural alternative to traditional silver amalgam fillings.

which are better, white or silver amalgam fillings?

traditional amalgam fillings contain a mixture of silver, tin, copper and mercury making them strong, durable and ideal for teeth in the back of the mouth.

our aim at sweetsmile however is to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible, so with tooth-coloured fillings requiring a less invasive restoration, we recommend them over silver amalgam fillings whenever possible.

when would white fillings be recommended?

A white filling, which starts off life as a softer and easier material for our dentists to shape and mould, is far more effective in repairing chipped teeth or restoring decayed teeth in the more visible part of your smile and the front of your mouth. Once moulded to the desired shape, a blue light is then shone on the white filling to harden it and to fix it into its final shape.

for teeth that are either cracked or chipped, tooth-coloured fillings may be used to build up the tooth to restore it’s look and feel. Closing gaps, reshaping uneven or short teeth and filling cavities caused by tooth decay may also be treated.
