Emergency dentist in Hendon

Dental pain rarely picks a good moment. If you have toothache, a broken tooth, a lost filling or crown, or swelling, call us as early in the day as you can and we will do our best to see you the same day.

You do not need to be registered with Sweetsmile to book an emergency appointment. An emergency consultation costs £20.

When to call us

Call the practice on 020 8203 1599 if you have:

  • toothache that is keeping you awake or not easing with painkillers
  • a chipped, cracked or broken tooth
  • a filling or crown that has come out
  • swelling in your gum or face
  • a wisdom tooth that is painful or swollen
  • a broken denture or brace wire that is cutting your mouth
  • a tooth that has been knocked out

When to go to A&E instead

Go to A&E or call 999 if you have:

  • swelling in your face or neck that is affecting your breathing, swallowing or your eye
  • bleeding from the mouth that will not stop after 15 minutes of firm pressure
  • a serious injury to your face, mouth or head

Out of hours

Our opening hours are Sunday to Thursday, 8.30am to 6pm, and Friday from 8.30am with closing times that vary with sunset. Outside these hours, call NHS 111 for advice on urgent dental care. If you leave us a message or WhatsApp on 07379 006009, we will get back to you when we next open.

What happens at your emergency appointment

The dentist will examine the problem, take an X-ray if needed and work out the cause of the pain. Our aim is to get you out of pain at that visit. Sometimes that means a temporary filling or dressing, with the permanent repair booked for a later appointment. We will always explain the options and the cost before doing any treatment.

What to do before you get here

Our guide What to do in a dental emergency covers first aid for the most common problems, including what to do with a knocked-out tooth. The short version: if an adult tooth is knocked out, hold it by the crown (the white part), not the root, put it back in the socket if you can or keep it in milk, and get to a dentist within the hour.
