What data we collect
We may collect and hold the following personal information: your full name, date of birth, address, telephone number and email address; your medical and dental history, including details of medications, allergies and previous treatments; details of appointments and treatments carried out; payment information (we do not store full card details); and records required by the General Dental Council.
How we use your data
We use your personal data to provide dental treatment and manage your care; communicate with you about appointments, treatment plans and follow-up care; meet our legal and regulatory obligations as a practice registered with the GDC; process payments for services; and respond to enquiries and complaints. Our lawful basis for processing your data is the performance of a contract (your treatment), compliance with legal obligations, and, for special category health data, the provision of health or social care.
Who we share your data with
We may share your information with specialist referral practices or hospitals if you are referred for specialist treatment; dental laboratories preparing restorations or appliances; our software providers and IT support (under strict data processing agreements); and regulatory bodies such as the GDC if required. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
How long we keep your data
We retain patient records for a minimum of 11 years from the date of the last entry, or until age 25 if the patient was a child at the time of treatment, in line with GDC guidance.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to access a copy of the personal data we hold about you; request correction of any inaccurate data; request deletion of your data (subject to legal and professional obligations); object to or restrict certain types of processing; and lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
